Tonopah, NV

We got away from Pahrump about 8 am on the morning of the 25th of April. We headed north on NV 160 until we got to US 95. We were cruising along at a good rate until we started climbing in elevation. We felt that the coach was slowing down on the hill climb more than it should. On the downside of the hill we got back to speed. On the next hill climb it was even more evident that something was wrong. We pulled over to the shoulder of the road and call AAA. We were about 5 km out of Tonopah. We just knew that the hill in front of us was going to be very slow and there was a good possibility we would never get to the top. We waited a short while and the mechanic from Bumper Towing arrived. It was determined that the fuel filter is the culprit. the mechanic felt that we could limp into town being it was only 5km away. We unhooked the car and with Marge following me in the car we limp into town. Of course there isn't a fuel filter in town that would fit our motorhome & so a fuel filter was ordered. The mechanic will meet us at the garage about 8:30 am the next morning after he picks up the filter. . We are presently in the Ramada RV park that is directly behind the hotel/casino. Saturday morning we meet the mechanic at Bumpers Towing. He and his wife(who is the bookeeper/invoice issuer) arrive as promised. It takes him about 10 minutes and we test the unit. He has me drive back down the hill I crawled up the day before. Perfect . We pay the bill & we are on our way, now flying up the hills we crawled up the day before. I would like to say here that if you ever have any mechanical problems in Tonopah, NV, I highly recommend Bumper Towing, 622 Depot Rd ph (775)482-3478. Thanks.

Terribles Lakeside Casino & RV Resort

Yet another view!

View across the lake at Terribles Casino & RV Resort

We travelled from Emerald Cove north to Lake Havasu RV Resort. This is another resort within the system that we belong to. We are slowly ... ever so slowly working our way towards home. We have been watching the weather and it has not been to our liking. Also many friends have emailed us to let us know that the weather is very unsettled and there have been many days where snow has fallen. Yuk!!! We moved from Lake Havasu and stayed at Terribles resort in Pahrump, NV for a couple of nights. The next four nights we stayed at Preferred RV Resort which is also in Pahrump. Terribles was booked full because of an upcoming car show in the area and a Baker to Vegas Relay of runners. While in Pahrump, besides visiting the casinos and eating there we took a tour of Sheri's Ranch. There were four couples of us that went to tour the two locations - Sheri's & Pahrump Winery. This apparently is a very exclusive brothel in the Pahrump area. One of the "ladies" took us around the ranch and we got to view a few of the rooms. A couple had hot tubs, one that was sponsored by a famous beer company and their monogram and monikers were evident in the room. A person or persons would have to be well heeled to afford this club. We had lunch at the ranch and this was very good and lunch was affordable. We also took a tour of the Pahrump Winery (http://www.pahrumpwinery.com/) . We had several samples of both there red & white wines. This was an interesting tour and one should take this tour if in the area. There is a RV Resort connected to the winery that one can stay at also.
PS: I will add a couple of pics when I am able to get a good connection for uploading. Presently we are on a free wi-fi in Tonopah, NV.

We left ElGolfo Mexico on the 14th of March. Upon Arrival at Emerald Cove RV Resort and we set up our motorhome there. We went to the St. Patricks day dinner that night at the clubhouse. They had decided to have the dinner on the Saturday night rather than wait for the actual day as the park had lots of people and by Tuesday most of the weekenders would be gone. We left our motorhome there and on the 20th we took the car and drove over to Palm Springs, CA. We were meeting family there as they came during the spring break associated with the school system and also Easter break. Both combined gave a total of 2 weeks of no school. We stayed at the Royal Sun Motel on South Palm Canyon Drive. We have stayed there before and we liked it there . The price is reasonable and they have a very good continental breakfast each morning. We made reservations in December as we knew it would be busy in Palm Springs. We both really like Palm Springs. To us the boulevards are manicured well and the palm trees represent warmth. We spent 10 days there with family and also with friends that live there. On Easter Sunday we had a brunch that was held at our friends. Excellent food and celebrated with orange juice and champagne along with the traditional ham & all the trimmings. Our family members departed Palm Springs via air and we drove back to Emerald Cove. Friends have a pontoon boat and we spent time on the water along with having barbequed turkey burgers, salads, and sweets. We said good bye to our friends and left the park on Saturday the 5th. We drove a few miles north up Hwy 95 to Lake Havasu, AZ. Here we are at the Lake Havasu CRA Resort. Another park within our resort system. We are booked in here till the 19th of April. Upon arrival at this park we find that in the clubhouse that night they are holding the final dinner for the season. So the cook, Jennie cleaned out the freezer and cooked up every thing. Cost $3.00 per person. The dinner consisted of meatloaf, turkey, ham, shrimp fettuccini, baked spagetti cheese & sausage, liver and onions, baked potato, mashed potatoes, potato au gratin casserole, gravy for your patatoes and meatloaf, fresh lettuce salad & sauces, desserts and coffee, tea or a variety of sodas. What a feast!!!! and very tasty. Of course you couldn't have some of everything, but the variety was excellent. After supper, karaoke was the order of the day. We stayed for a while but soon departed as we had promised those at the last park we were at(Emerald Cove) that we would come back for karaoke. We drove back the 45 miles for this event. Left them all again after saying goodbye(again!) and drove back to Lake Havasu. On Monday norning we made another road trip to Quartzite. We had made arrangements to meet Bob and Cathy(friends from NY) there for breakfast. We hadn't seen them since our Mexican cruise and knew we wouldn't be seeing them again till this fall. We left them and drove back to Lake Havasu, but made a small detour through Emerald Cove surprising them all again. Spent a few moments there and then headed back to Lake Havasu. We have several planned road trips from here. We are driving to Laughlin to see and hear Merle Haggard the country singer on Saturday evening. We are driving over on Friday though as there is a great sea food buffet we are told. Going over with a group from the park here. I've posted a few pics on (Under Links)Webshots - our Photos under the title Emerald Cove & area.
