There was a good attendance at the Thanksgiving dinner. The park supplied the turkey, stuffing & gravy. Those people that sat as a group, such as our group each provided a dish to compliment the dinner. For example along with the turkey, stuffing & gravy were mashed potatoes, squash, bean salad, fruit salad, fresh buns & butter, pickle tray assortment & cranberry sauce. For dessert if there was anymore room there was carmel apple pie, pumpkin pie and a chocolate bundt cake. Each person provided there own drink of choice. I for one can say that I was full to overstuffed. Everything was delicious and we all had a good dinner and had a good time.

Road Trip to Buckeye, AZ Nov 24, 2009

Marge & I took a road trip over to Buckeye, AZ as my brother & sister-in-law were going to be there for the next two weeks. They along with some friends flew in from Florida and were doing a tour of the area. Their plans were to go to Sedona,, Flagstaff & the Grand Canyon, then drive over to southern California. There they would visit with our sister and be back to fly out of Phoenix by mid December.

The home they had rented from friends was gorgeous. The cost was minimal for the two weeks. I took a few pics and the first one is of the bedroom we stayed in. The "casita" was free standing and consisted of a bedroom & private bathroom.
Not to shabby, better than a 5 star hotel!

Pic of the kitchen area. Huge area for the cook and seating for 6 around the table.

We (being 6 of us in 2 vehicles) had drivin' in to Phoenix area to do some sightseeing and for lunch. Lunch was at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant, and the food was good along with the service. Around 5 pm we said our goodbyes and we came back to the RV park where we are staying. A good day, but we had to get back to our home base as we had made arrangements to be in the RV park for Thanksgiving Day Dinner.

Sunday afternoon at the VFW (Nov 22, 2009)

Mel & Iris, friends from Salmon Arm, BC had called to let us know that they were parked at the VFW #8242 (Veterans of Foreign Wars) just about 12 miles north of Yuma on Hwy 95. They asked us to come out for the music & dancing that would be taking place on Sunday afternoon. So off we go. Had a good afternoon. Also joining us were Dan & Brenda, our son-in-laws parents.

Activities in the Park

Nov. 9, 2009

Pool is one of the activities that is played here in the park. We have a "Jack & Jill" pool game each Monday at 10am. The activity is organized and run with Wayne & Jean as the hosts. This is for players that are not skilled (beginners & wannabees) in the game. We donate 50 cents per person each Monday. We pick our partner by drawing a card from a deck of cards. Ladies from red deck, gents from blue deck. Matching number(e.g. 3 red & 3 blue) play as a team, so each week your teammate changes. fun league. There are no prizes except bragging rights for that day. The money collected is given back in the form of a hotdog/hamburger get together later on in the season. Today there were about 20 people participated.

Motorhome Update

After a couple of days and getting settled I took a look at the front of the moho to see if I could gain access to the generator. Upon inspection I figured this could be done. Bob(friend) gave me a hand by pulling on the lid while I pulled on the lever inside the coach to release the catch. Once this was done, and looking into where the generator was, we could see that the front had just been pushed back. I undid the bolts & was able to slide the front forward, and pretty close to lining up with the front cowlings. You would to look at it to know something was wrong. The rails that the generator set on slide in & out okay. The brackets that hold the front panel on are bent, and can be staightened with a little heat, but thats for someone else to do. So, all in all pretty happy with the result.
slight misalignment, but could have been a lot worse

Wellton, Arizona

We are in Wellton, AZ having arrived here Saturday, October 31st. We are in Pioneer RV Park, spot 50. Travelling from home (Kamloops, BC) to here was an adventure. From home & travelling on Hwy 97 through Monte Lake, Westwold, and into Vernon we had snow & slush on the road and on the edges of the road. After travelling through Vernon & Kelowna and snow free, we stopped at Midtown RV in Penticton to pick up a couple of parts for the motorhome. We left there and after a few brief moments crossing the border we were in the US before sundown. It was an uneventful drive until we were about 5 km north of Omak, WA. Time was about 5:15pm. There standing in the ditch not more than 5o feet from us was bambi. There was no time to react, as bambi decided it was time to cross the road. Well bambi met the motorhome headon. We stopped about a 100 feet down the road as we just knew there was damage to the motorhome. Yep, the front end that houses the generator was pushed in about 5 inches an one side & about two inches on the otherside. Also looking down the road, there laid bambi on the white line.... dead

After notifying the Washington State Police & they attending. Filling out a report were on our way again. We stayed overnight at Dry Falls State Park, WA as we encountered rain and as it got darker, the fog got thicker. In the morning the fog was still present but we could see the road better. We proceeded on that day and drove till we got to Wells, NV. Stayed overnight at the parking lot across from the casino & fuel stop. The next morning we drove on and we arrived here at the park about 8:40 pm. Total distance driven from Kamloops to here was 1637 miles. I changed the GPS over to miles once we got into the US.
